A STRIKING SMALL SPIRIT SHIELD, WESTERN HIGHLANDS, PAPUA NEW GUINEA ( No 1834)

This is a graphic shield from the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. Smaller than usual.  Made of wood with a striking pigment design depicting an abstracted spirit.  It is thought that it would protect its owner from harm.  Wear commensurate with tribal use. We guarantee this item has been tribally used. Height approx 80 cm.
